Inaugural Mason Miles 5K Run and Walk
The inaugural Mason Miles 5K Run and Walk took place on 25 MAR @ George Mason University, Prince William Campus. This event was organized by GMU students as a fundraising initiative for the Kyle Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Over $1,400 was raised for the Kyle Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship was established in memory of local Firefighter Kyle Wilson.
Over 140 runners and walkers traversed the run course which meandered thru the Campus highlighting the newly constructed EDGE leadership skills and team building course. Afterwards, participants were invited to venture and try their skills on the course's challenges. Local vendors such as Tropical Smoothie and Pizza Hut provided refreshments after the race.

The Spring Season Kicks Off with the Inaugural GMS 5K
Spring kicked off in fine fashion with the Inaugural Gainesville Middle School 5K and 1Mile Fun Run. Proceeds from the race went towards the school's purchase of a new Weather Bug System. Many local vendors contributed with raffle prizes.
Over 50 kids and parents took part in the event, which was started with local Fire Rescue Trucks sounding their sirens! The 5K Runners starting pounding the pavement at 8:30am. As the crisp morning bite turned into a beautiful Sunny and cloudless day in the 60s, over 140 runners toed the line as the horns went off. The course went out of the Gainesville Middle School grounds, made a right onto Limestone Dr, a left on Wellington Road, a another left onto Linton Hall Road, and turned back onto Limestone Dr for the home stretch back towards the school. A DJ was blasting music as the runners sprinted the final few hundred meter on the track!
At the prime age of 14, Corey Tooke "took" the Men's Overall with a blazing 17:55. Amie Francis was 1st Overall for the Women with a time of 21:32.
